Band news

The Cat's Meow, from Mohill, Co. Leitrim, have just returned from a trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains, winding up in Raleigh, NC, and will be back in action at the Oarsman in Carrick-on-Shannon this coming Friday night (24 June).

The Cool Hand String Band from Omagh, Co. Tyrone, played at the Abbey Centre last weekend, augmented by Bronagh Broderick on fiddle; a video of them playing 'Little Liza Jane' is on their Facebook.
*
Cup O' Joe, from Co. Armagh, are following their appearance at Belgium's only bluegrass festival last weekend at Oelegem, by playing this coming weekend at the Muddy Roots Europe Festival in Oostkamp, south of Bruges.

Gorsefire, from Belfast, played a sold-out-in-advance show last Sunday (3.00-6.00 p.m., 19 June) at the Meadowbank Social Club, 38 Parade, Donaghadee, Co. Down. Here is a sample of their music, composed by Ian McAllister.

HueGrass, from Greystones, Co. Wicklow, played over last weekend (19-20 June) at Phil Healy's Pub, Fitzwilliam Square, Wicklow town - not the first time they've played there.

I Draw Slow, from Dublin, will be starting their biggest North American tour on 15 July in Vancouver, Canada, and working down and round through Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and Wyoming back to Oregon (5-7 Aug.) The full schedule is shown on their Facebook.

Old Hannah, from Sligo, have been keeping busy since their appearances in Westport, and will be playing on Sat. 25 June at Thomas Connolly, Markievicz Rd, Sligo town.

Pine Marten, from Dublin, released on 17 June the official video for the original composition 'Doggone' from their new EP Gone beyond, now available from their website and BandCamp. The EP launch party will be held tomorrow (Thurs. 23 June) in the Cobblestone, Dublin.

Dublin's Well Enough Alone have been playing the last few Sunday nights in the Thomas House, Thomas St., Dublin. We hope this will be a calendar fixture.

The Whileaways will be playing two successive nights this weekend: at Canavan's, Tuam, Co. Galway, on 24 June, and the Creel, Westport, Co. Mayo, on 25 June.
*
And Woodbine have posted on their Facebook a reminder of the coming 1st Woodbine Bluegrass Jamboree at Athy, Co. Kildare (8-9 July), with the splendid Hamilton County Ramblers from Chattanooga, TN, as guests of honour.
