'Old Drake' at the Cobblestone, 24 Apr. 2016

Following on from the BIB post of a few days ago, thanks to Derek Copley for this extra good news:

A rare and special night of old-time music is coming to Dublin and the Cobblestone Back Room on Sunday 24 April. Under the banner of 'Old Drake', listeners will be treated to 'Traditional Stringband Music from Virginia', an essential concert for any fans of old-time music here in Ireland. Please see the poster for details.

It will be €10 and doors are at 8.00 p.m., with the gig to begin at 8.30 p.m., with a support slot from the Greasy Coat Stringband, the Dublin-based trio who perform authentic old-time fiddle-and-banjo music. With other special guests joining the main act on the night, it must be reiterated that this is essential viewing, so be sure not to miss this one!

As an added bonus, the main guests for the evening will be hosting old-time FIDDLE and MANDOLIN WORKSHOPS at 7.00 p.m. Monday evening at the Thomas House on Thomas St., Dublin 8. For those interested, please get in touch with Derek at copirl@yahoo.com or 087 2726007 to reserve a place (to give us an idea of numbers and space required). These workshops will be followed by the regular old-time jam at the Thomas House from just after 8.00 p.m. as usual.
