Commemorating Bill Monroe

Niall Toner draws attention on the Niall Toner Band Facebook to the 104th anniversary of the birth of the Father of Bluegrass, Bill Monroe, which came two days ago (13 Sept.), on the day following the NTB's concert at the Riverbank Arts Centre in Newbridge, Co. Kildare (see the photo, taken by Kyle O'Neill during the show).

Since Mr Monroe's death in 1996, Niall has composed and recorded three commemorative songs - 'Bill Monroe's mandolin', 'The Master's resting place', and 'William Smith Monroe', which broke airplay records when it was released in the centenary year, 2011. An updated version of 'Bill Monroe's mandolin' is on Niall's latest album, Working on love, released earlier this year.
