Ricky Skaggs in 'Masters of Tradition' festival, Bantry, 20 Aug. 2014

Thanks to Des Butler for the news that fourteen-time Grammy winner Ricky Skaggs is taking part in the Masters of Tradition festival held this week in Bantry, west Co. Cork. The festival extends from Wednesday 20 August to Sunday 24 August, and Ricky will be joined by fiddler Martin Hayes and guitarist Dennis Cahill at the opening concert at 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday in the Maritime Hotel. Tickets were €45; we say 'were', because the concert is now shown as sold out. As Des remarks, it seems a pity that this is the only show by Ricky Skaggs in Ireland on this trip.

Also on the Bantry programme is Virginia fiddler and flatfoot dancer Cleek Schrey, who is listed as appearing on the Wednesday concert with the Brock McGuire Band, and also on Friday 22nd with Iarla O Lionaird and Ivan Goff.
