Pilgrim St - debut in Navan, 3 Aug. 2014
Eugene Donegan, who earlier this year sent news of the launch of the Royal Roots sessions (see the BIB for 15 April), which have since been held weekly in Navan, Co. Meath, and have now given birth to a new tradition-oriented bluegrass band. Eugene writes:
We are launching our new band Pilgrim St in Swan Lane (Ardboyne Hotel, Navan) on Bank Holiday Sunday (3 August), admission €10.
The band lineup is Peadar Farrelly (guitar, vocals), Richie Farrelly (guitar, vocals), Eugene Donegan (banjo, vocals), Cathal McQuaid (fiddle), Eoin McDonnell (mandolin), Mack Lynch (dobro), and Francis McGinn (bass). Our music includes songs from Bill Monroe, Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly, Doc Watson, Earl Scruggs & Lester Flatt, and Hank Williams.
We will hopefully have a website up and running before the gig. Here is a link to our Facebook page.
The BIB wishes Pilgrim St every success.
