A lively evening for American Independence Day

A lot of bluegrass will be heard this evening and up to midnight to mark American Independence Day. First (and in the most prestigious location), the Dublin Bluegrass Collective are playing in the U.S. Ambassador's Residence, Phoenix Park, Dublin, from 5.00 to 6.00 p.m. Later, in south Leinster, Woodbine are returning to Tuohy's Bar, Pound St., Rathdowney, Co. Laois, starting their show at 10.00 p.m.. On the other side of Ireland, Peter Larkin invites all to join the Bluegrass House Band at Raftery's Rest, Kilcolgan, Co. Galway.

And now: thanks to Hugh Taggart for the news that Well Enough Alone (above, with Hugh in the centre) are playing in the Living Room Bar of the Residents' Hotel, Ashbourne, Co. Meath, from 10.00 p.m. to midnight.

Update 6 July: We've since learned from Ray O'Brien's Facebook page that the Blood Red Mountain Band were also playing in Harry's on the Green in Dublin on Friday night from 7.30 to 9.30.
