Familiar faces at the SPBGMA convention

The Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music in America (SPBGMA) opened its 39th Bluegrass Music Awards and 30th National Convention in Nashville last night (31 Jan.). Thanks to Compass Records for the news that artists on their roster are nominated for a total of twelve SPBGMA awards. Read the full Compass release here.

The list includes several artists who have performed in Ireland: Claire Lynch and Dale Ann Bradley are both nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year (Traditional), and the Gibson Brothers are nominated for Bluegrass Songwriters of the Year, Gospel Group of the Year (Contemporary), and Vocal Group of the Year. Also performing at SPBGMA tomorrow will be the Special Consensus, who were still in Ireland on Tuesday last, and since then have been briefly at home before playing at a festival in Florida.
