Cathy Desmond reviews Gone to Grass show in Sixmilebridge: UPDATE

The BIB has not carried reviews as the old hard-copy newsletter used to do. We're therefore very glad to hear from Cathy Desmond, who reviewed on Wednesday on her own blog the show by Gone to Grass the previous night at the Mill Bar, Sixmilebridge, Co. Clare - one of the main venues in next month's Shannonside Winter Music Weekend.

Cathy is a freelance professional player and teacher of music, based in Ennis, Co. Clare. A former member of the Irish Youth Orchestra, she has a keen interest in inclusive music tuition, embodied in the Cathy Desmond String School; you can contact her by e-mail. The review includes the results of a talk with Ivor after the show, and the complete set list for the evening. Read it in full here.

Gone to Grass on Tuesday night had Paddy Jordan on bass as well as (in photo) Ivor Ottley, Pete Lamb, and Tom Portman. Thanks again to Cathy for the news that 'the last chance to catch this smashing ensemble is at Green's pub, Kinvara [Co. Galway], on Sunday 23 December at 4 pm.'

CORRECTION: Cathy sends word that the next appearance of Gone to Grass (without Ivor Ottley) will be not on 23 Dec. but on the following Sunday, 30 Dec., as part of the Turkey Fleadh. The change has been made on the BIB calendar.
