This five-part series starring Kevin Costner, on the famous feud that developed on the West Virginia/Kentucky border in the years following the American civil war, begins tonight on the UK's Channel 5 TV. The Radio Times says: '... western fans get all the squinting and tobacco-spitting and tough-talk and fiddle music they could hope for.'

Sounds ideal. We hope some of the old-time music for which West Virginia and eastern Kentucky are now famous is at least recognisably echoed in what's coming from the TV.
