Bluegrass vocals: the ultimate reference source

A few years ago preparations were made for what would have been an indispensable reference work: the Rounder book of bluegrass, with chapters on different subjects written by acknowledged experts. Fred Bartenstein (left) has made major contributions in all fields of bluegrass activity for over forty years, for which the IBMA gave him a Distinguished Achievement Award in 2006.

Fred wrote for the Rounder book (never published) a chapter on bluegrass vocals, which is now accessible on his website. It is such a useful, authoritative, and comprehensive guide to the subject that the BIB is now adding, with his permission, a permanent link to the chapter in our right-hand column.
