Not bluegrass; but...

Nigel Martyn of Belfast has done a great deal for bluegrass and other acoustic music in Ireland (especially by presenting ace guitarists), so a mention of two forthcoming non-bluegrass acts presented by Nigel is appropriate here.

Gráinne Duffy from Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan, guitarist and singer in Chicago blues style, will be appearing at 8.00 p.m. on Thurs. 26 April with her band (Paul Sherry, guitar; Davy Watson, bass; Gerry Morgan, drums) at Whelan's, Dublin 2. Adm. €14.50; Lo-Call 1890 200 078.

Dan Baird & Homemade Sin, rock band based in Atlanta, GA, will be playing at Whelan's on 2 May, at Letterkenny Regional Cultural Centre on 3 May, and in the Kilkenny Rhythm & Roots Festival on 5 and 6 May. Full details are on Nigel's Old Flattop website.

The Kilkenny Festival, by the way, advises booking early for concerts, as at least one has already sold out. Read their latest e-newsletter.
