John McGann
We have to report the sad news of the death of multi-instrumentalist John McGann (USA), who as a member of the teaching staff of Berklee College of Music in Boston, took part in a Berklee 'mission' to Dublin to make young Irish musicians aware of the college's unique programmes for improvisational music. The BIB editor had the honour of being present at a class that John led on his mandolin, and in which, incidentally, he discussed the different improvisational approaches of old-time and traditional music, bluegrass, and jazz.
