Tim Eriksen in Ireland, 3-5 Apr. 2012

Tim is the founder of the Western Massachusetts Sacred Harp convention (currently the largest SH convention in the world) and has been very influential in the tradition’s modern proliferation. He lectures on the history of Sacred Harp in universities in the US and, over the years, has taught a great many people about its techniques. Notably, he was Anthony Minghella’s on-set music consultant during the filming of US civil war film Cold Mountain and also led the wonderful Sacred Harp singing sessions found on its soundtrack.
He will be leading a shape-note singing school in Dublin at 7.00 p.m. on Tuesday 3 April in the Franciscan Friary on Merchant's Quay. The following night (Wed. 4 Apr.) at 8.00 p.m. he will be performing at the Triskel Arts Centre in Cork with Woven Skull, presented by Plugd Records. And on Thursday 5 April he will be giving a singing school in Cork at 7.00 p.m. in Camden Palace, during the regular Cork Sacred Harp weekly sing. More details are on his tour schedule, and audio samples of his music are on his website.
