Snuffy Smith

Thanks to Conor Daly of Well Enough Alone for passing on the sad news of the recent death of Joe 'Snuffy' Smith - banjo-picker, luthier, and much more - of North Carolina. Known among players throughout the world for his top-quality bridges, he was held in very high regard for his skill in setting up instruments.

A feature by John Lawless on Bluegrass Today includes a moving personal account from Pam Rice, wife of Tony - the Rices were close friends of Snuffy Smith and his family. The funeral took place yesterday evening.
