Karen Lynne wins songwriting award in Australia - again

Given the many links between Ireland and Australia, we're glad to pass on news from down under: Karen Lynne (shown left; photo by June Underwood) and Allan Caswell are joint winners of the 2012 Contemporary Country Song of the Year award from the Tamworth Songwriters Association.

The song, 'The road that brought me here' (from her 2011 album Heart songs and laugh lines), is based on Karen’s life in the music industry; the words emphasise that the music and the audiences remain the real satisfaction for her. Karen won the same award back in 2001.

As can be seen from her bio, Karen performs in several different formats, including her full bluegrass band Acoustic Shock, comprising top pickers from the very talented Australian scene. Samples of her music can be heard on CD Baby.
