Carolina Chocolate Drops in the Daily Telegraph

The British Daily Telegraph's music critic Andrew Perry contributed a page-sized feature on the Carolina Chocolate Drops to the review section of last Saturday's paper, with the photo above (by Crackerfarm) showing the band in its present four-piece configuration. Perry describes the leaders of the black string band revival as 'a purist's nightmare' but 'really... a breath of fresh air'.

Mind you, he also describes the banjo, fiddle, and mandolin as 'arcane' instruments; and the article appears under the title 'America's new bluegrass pioneers', but that may have been written by an editor. Look out for the article in case it appears on his page of the Telegraph website.
