Bluegrass Pickin' Parlour opens in Belfast, 26 Feb. 2012

Thanks to the Bluegrass Pickin' Parlour in Belfast for this announcement:

Red-hot bluegrass in the Green Room at the Black Box. You don't get more colourful than that.

The Bluegrass Pickin' Parlour is a new monthly club and will launch on Sunday 26 February. We will also be raising money and awareness for two charities: A21 Campaign and ECPAT UK, both of whom are fighting to stop human trafficking.

We invite all bluegrass pickers, strummers, and singers to 'gather round the open mic'; there'll also be a special guest slot each month and a bluegrass pickin' parlour jam to finish. Starts 2.00 p.m. Free entry!

We are delighted to announce that Acoustic Dan & the Black Mountain River Dipsos will be kicking it all off. Sometimes referred to as 'psychobilly cowpunk', the Black Mountain River Dipsos present a raucous but uplifting soundtrack to a world of Violent Teenagers wielding golf umbrellas, ill advised text s**, and the pleasures and pitfalls of bacchanalian excess. Expect lightning-speed banjo and thunderous vocals.

Jayne Trimble, who is just back from recording her first EP in Nashville, will be joining us for the 'gather round the open mic' session. Don't miss this chance to see her perform live with her band before she heads off on her Ireland tour.
