Hot-rodding your resonator guitar
We avoid saying 'your Dobro®', because Dobro® owners won't need the following advice. Owners of other resophonic guitars, however, may be interested in the Feb. 2012 issue of the UK magazine Guitar & Bass. There's a three-page article which takes one through ten clearly detailed stages for DIY-upgrading an Ozark resonator guitar.
The process, which includes replacing the cone but doesn't seem seriously expensive or difficult, left the instrument (according to Guitar & Bass) sounding 'louder, brighter, fatter, sweeter, and more dynamic'. Something we could all use.
