Béla Fleck & the original Flecktones at the NCH, Dublin, 17 Jan. 2012

Thanks to Mike Gilchrist of Fickle3 Promotions for the news that he has booked Béla Fleck & the Flecktones (USA), in their original lineup, to perform at the National Concert Hall, Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin 2, on Tuesday 17 January 2012. Tickets went on sale yesterday, and can be booked online.

The band's original astounding creativity has been further developed and enriched by the individual members' separate projects in recent years - and, apart from any other consideration, it should be good to see and hear Béla Fleck's phenomenal command of the 5-string banjo, whatever he chooses to play out of the world of music that he can play. A month ago (22-24 September) he presented the world premiere of his concerto for banjo and orchestra with the Nashville Symphony (details here).
