Southern Welfare weekend tour: report

Thanks to Ray O'Brien of the Waterford band Southern Welfare, who reports:

Southern Welfare have just finished their tour of the west and midlands. Thursday night we played a gig to a packed house in the Rafters Rest in Kilcolgan, Co. Galway, in aid of the Western Alzheimers, where they made over €1,000 on the night. A big thanks to Peter Larkin and his partner Ann for putting up with us, and not to forget the management and staff for their hospitality.

Then on Friday it was off to Mohill, where we played a fund-raising gig in aid of the 1st Mohill Bluegrass Weekend which takes place on 12-14 August. A big thanks to Tommy and Joyce for the dinner before the gig; we played to a nice crowd on the night, and we hope to see you all again later in the year. Then on Saturday it was off to the Lakeside Manor Hotel in Virginia, Co. Cavan, where we played to a huge crowd on the night. A big thanks to Sean McManus for organising the venue for us and we hope to play there again.

So that's that - a big thanks to all the guys and gals who made their way to the gigs, and we hope to meet up with you all very soon again.
