Bluestack Mountain Boys: upcoming shows - and more

Thanks to Aran Sheehan, mandolinist with the Bluestack Mountain Boys, for news of two upcoming shows by the band:

Sat. 23 Apr.: Sweeny's Mongrel (Le Cirk), 32 Dame Street, Dublin 2: 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. (no cover charge). It's Sweeny's Birthday, which is worth celebrating as they have proven to be a fantastic support not only to all genres of emerging artists in Dublin but also to emerging bluegrass and acoustic acts. There will be free music on three floors all night.

Sun. 1 May: Vantastival: Paddy Mirage Stage, 7.10 p.m.

The Vantastival will be held 29 Apr.-1 May at the Dunany Estate, a privately owned organic farm near Annagassan, Co. Louth, and close to the sea. Aran adds:

Watched a very interesting film with a short snip of Bill Monroe in the early days playing a small-town gig. Here is the link. Remembering the High Lonesome is the story of the making of a classic documentary film. It is also a profile of filmmaker, photographer, artist, and musician John Cohen.
