Thanks to
Ivan of the
Low Country Boys from the central Ards peninsula of Co. Down (the easternmost part of this island) for the news that the band's fourth and latest CD,
Plain an simple, is now out, and available from their website (where you can also download the tracks individually).
Gibson (vocals, banjo, percussion, guitar, strumstick),
Ivan (vocals, bass, fiddle, mandolin), and
Richard (vocals, dobro, guitar) present fourteen tracks of Ulster Scots, Scots, and old-timey hillbilly gospel music, including two instrumentals ('Tumlin Jack' and 'The old cross cut saw') and a monologue.
The
Low Country Boys also have their own
blog, a
YouTube channel, and a
Flickr photo album, are on
MySpace, and operate a PA hire system and recording facilities. Oh, yes -
and a pleasant, good-looking, and informative website.
