Kendel Carson, singer and fiddler, in Ireland

Thanks to Nigel Martyn for this news of Kendel Carson (above):

* Canadian country/folk artist Kendel Carson, 24, is drawing attention for her energetic fiddle playing and sexy vocal stylings.
* Her single 'I like trucks' came out in 2007 (from the album Rearview mirror tears) and garnered the singer a huge audience on both sides of the Atlantic.
* Rearview mirror tears (released on Train Wreck Records), caught the ear of an unlikely source: BBC DJ Bob Harris, who championed the single 'Trucks' and helped turn it into a hit
* Kendel is in constant collaboration with legendary songwriter Chip Taylor. Her albums are released on his own label, Train Wreck Records. Kendel regularly performs as a trio with Chip and Van Morrison guitarist John Platania.
* Kendel is brimming with more confidence than ever. 'Chip helped mold me into something more complete', she says. 'He helped me find my own voice. I remember one of the first things he told me – to treat singing like playing the fiddle. It just has to be me being me, going by feeling.'

Her bio can be read here. The dates Nigel gives for her are:

Thurs. 31 Mar. Errigle Inn, Belfast
Fri. 1 Apr. Marketplace Theatre (with Grainne Duffy Band), Armagh city
Sat. 2 Apr. Playhouse Theatre (with Grainne Duffy), Portrush, Co. Londonderry
Sun. 3 Apr. Alexander Arms Hotel, Limavady, Co. Londonderry
Tues. 5 Apr. Gallaghers, Kilkishen, Co. Clare
