The Higglers in Kinvara, 2 April 2011

Thanks to Paul Johnson for the news that the Higglers old-time band are playing a concert in Johnston's Hall, an intimate concert venue in the main street of Kinvara, Co. Galway, on Saturday 2 April at 8.30 p.m. The Hall is the regular venue for the Kinvara Area Music Collective (KAM).

The photo above shows (left to right) Paul (bass), Lena Ullman (banjo, guitar), Frank Hall (fiddle), and Brendan Hearty (guitar, mandolin). The band's members have long individual histories of playing old-time music, in the west of Ireland and further afield. The Higglers' website is well worth a visit, and their motto is: 'Festivals, concerts, parties, dances, weddings... Anywhere good, spirited, dance music is needed, the Higglers deliver.'
