Delmark Goldfarb in Ireland, May 2011

As a veteran of the jug band revival of the 1960s, the BIB editor welcomes this news from Delmark Goldfarb (USA) (shown left with Bill Monroe at the Club 47 in Boston some years ago), who will be visiting Ireland for the first time in May 2011. He is well known to such figures as the legendary Jim Rooney (long resident in Ireland and closely connected with the Lee Valley String Band), and his performances and recordings have had excellent reviews. He writes:

I play all-original Americana, solo or with a small combo, and have crossed the US many times. Recorded in Memphis, my CD Up to my neck features my cohort John Sebastian (of the Lovin' Spoonful) on harmonica; on percussion is Cody Dickinson of the N. Mississippi All-Stars. I'm also featured on a compilation CD from Appleseed Records, Give us your poor, with artists such as Bruce Springsteen and Bonnie Raitt.

I have a role in the recent jug band documentary Chasin' Gus' ghost, credited at the film's website between Maria Muldaur and David Grisman. My tunes have been played on folk and blues as well as jazz programs worldwide and could be a flexible addition to one of your programs. As a soloist, I could fill in just about anywhere as a featured act or opener.

Contact Delmark by e-mail and see also his website, MySpace, and CD Baby page.
