Twenty years of the BBMA

British Bluegrass News #54 (autumn 2010) has been posted out to members of the British Bluegrass Music Association (BBMA). It celebrates twenty years of the BBMA since the association was founded in 1990.

The 40-page issue includes tributes to the late Gill Harrison, a pillar of the British bluegrass scene and especially of the annual Sore Fingers Week. Other features include a two-page article by mandolinist and bandleader Arthur Robinson, who established strong links with bluegrass in the Czech Republic; an interview with Tony Furtado (USA); features on the Britannia Bluegrass Band and the Biggin Hillbillies; festival reports; and articles on preserving a cultural identity and on tone ring vibrations. All this plus the report of the BBMA annual general meeting, the regular 'What’s on', tour details, CD and book reviews, ten area reports, and more.

This issue is the first to appear since Richard F Thompson withdrew as editor-in-chief, and it maintains the high standard of presentation and content achieved under his editorship.
