Niall Toner Band at Celbridge, 21 Oct. 2010
Thanks to Niall Toner, who reports:
Next Thursday at the Celbridge Library, NTB are doing a show as part of the Des Carty Sessions. Special guest on the night will be Sean Garvey, a truly wonderful traditional Irish folk singer, and proceedings begin at 8.00 p.m. By the way, Des Carty, for whom the annual festival is named, was the man who taught Paul Kelly, fiddler extraordinaire.
One of the unique aspects of Thursday's gig is the fact that it is an all-acoustic performance, and that gives the listener an opportunity to hear the real sound of the acoustic instruments - guitar, mandolin, and bass.
Niall also reports on the success of last Saturday's concert at the Sean O'Casey Community Centre on North Wall in Dublin city centre, forming part of RTE Radio One's Big Music Week: 'We had a great turnout, and by all accounts, the show was very well received.' See also the comments posted last night by a member of the audience, on the BIB post of 4 Oct. which announced the show.
