Hot Club of Cowtown in Ireland, 24-5 Oct. 2010

Thanks to Oona Fortune for the news that the Hot Club of Cowtown (USA) will be in Ireland playing two dates during the coming Bank Holiday weekend, as part of a current tour in these islands: on Sunday 24 Oct. at 3.00 p.m. in the Crane Lane Theatre, Cork, as part of the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival; and on Monday 25 Oct. at 8.30 p.m. in the Button Factory, Temple Bar, Dublin 2. Doors open at the Button Factory at 7.30 p.m., and tickets (€10) can be bought online.

The Western Swing trio consists of Elana James (violin, vocals), Whit Smith (guitar, vocals), and Jake Erwin (upright bass, vocals). They played here nearly six months ago, at the beginning of May 2010, as featured artists in the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival, Belfast, and the Rhythm & Roots Festival, Kilkenny. Their next album, What makes Bob holler (a title to strike a chord in the hearts of the many bluegrass enthusiasts who also love the music of Bob Wills) is due for release on 1 Nov. 2010. Details of the album are here; but you can get it direct from the band in a few days' time...
