Bill Whelan, doyen of old-time banjo playing and godfather of string-band music in this island, has a new CD of tunes and songs, recorded by the OXO Boys (Bill, banjo;
Ben Keogh, vocals, guitar;
Jamie 'The Fiddle Girl from Alabama' Ferguson, fiddle) on 25 June this year at Sonic Studios, Stoneybatter, and engineered by
Albert Cowan.
It has eighteen tracks and over 50 minutes playing time, and anyone who has heard the band over the last few years since
Tim Rogers emigrated to Co. Mayo will want it. Contact Bill through his
MySpace site or by
e-mail - or, of course, at the regular Saturday early-evening old-time sessions at the Cobblestone in Dublin.
Labels: Banjo, CDs, Old-time, Sessions
