Going back to old Kentucky
Beginning tomorrow (1 Oct. 2010) the original Bluegrass Blog will be posting a daily record of events through the decades that are associated with Bill Monroe, ‘father of bluegrass music', and those who were close to him, in recognition of the forthcoming centennial of his birth. This project will continue to the end of September 2011. Richard Thompson writes:
... we will, each day, celebrate the life of Bill Monroe by sharing information about him and those people who are associated with his life and music career. This information includes births and deaths; recording sessions; single, LP and CD release dates; and other interesting tidbits.
A lot of the information has long been in the public domain; additional data has been identified in the course of personal research over 35 years.
'I’m going back to old Kentucky' is a work in progress and we welcome input from our readers.
