Bluegrass heaven in the Czech Republic
We think (and rightly) that we're having a good bluegrass festival season here; but to adjust perspectives a little, look at this post on the European Bluegrass Blog about the summer of 2010 in the Czech Republic, where there have been three to five festivals every weekend and innumerable concerts by single bands.
Peter O. Ruby, whose Czech band All Bells & Whistles played at the North Wales and Guildtown (Scotland) festivals this year, has written a major report on the 2010 Czech festival season, which will appear in Bluegrass Europe magazine in due course. Peter also sends this link to a video he shot during the recent Prague concert by the Claire Lynch Band (USA). Anyone who's seen Mark Schatz in Ireland will enjoy these seven minutes of Mark doing 'hambone' to 'Cindy, Cindy' and clogging to one of the BIB editor's favourite tunes, 'Big Sciota'.
