Westport flying the bluegrass flag
Westport’s reputation as a bluegrass hub continues to grow, thanks in large part to the tireless efforts of Uri Kohen of Electric Cave Production. Uri organises the Westport Bluegrass Festival every year, as well as a host of top-class free gigs in Geraghty’s Pub on the Octagon year round.
Those are the opening words of 'Westport flying the bluegrass flag', Ciara Moynihan's recent article in the Mayo News earlier this week. The article continues:
Westport Bluegrass Festival regular, local musician Tim Rogers (originally from New England, USA) is heading north to Omagh for the first weekend in September...
and ends with three detailed paragraphs on upcoming gigs which Uri has arranged: tonight's show by David Hope & the Henchmen, and during the Omagh weekend the shows by the Dust Busters old-time string band (USA) on Friday 3 Sept. and the reggae show with Natty Wailer on Saturday 4 Sept.
