It's (only) folk music - but I like it

Thanks to Uri Kohen of Electric Cave Production and the Westport Folk & Bluegrass Festival for this warning title to the post, and for his report on last night's concert in Westport, Co. Mayo:

Last Saturday (27 Mar. 2010) Geraghty's pub in Westport opened its doors once again to a top-class musical act. This time around it was the turn of A Band Called Wanda from Galway. They played to a full house and gave a superb performance.

The lads play a variety of instruments including guitars, mandolin, fiddle, drums, and a range of brass instruments. They paid tribute to The Band with a superb version of 'The weight', and are doing a great job with carrying the tradition of some of the best folk acts in the world. It was sure a night to remember and a well recommended gig.

At the end of April we will host Eilidh Patterson from Derry and Jim Keaveny from Austin, Texas.
