Pinecastle Records

The Pinecastle Records company has now ceased operation, as a result of the ill-health of its founder, Col. Tom Riggs. Arrangements are in progress for transferring the sale of existing Pinecastle recordings to other hands.

The label had an impressive roster of recording artists, of which the best known to Irish audiences is the Special Consensus, whose 35th anniversary album was scheduled to appear on Pinecastle this year. Today the original Bluegrass Blog carries a report on the closure, including a statement by Greg Cahill on his long tenure with the label. Greg's statement and the rest of the Bluegrass Blog report can be read here.
