The far edge of bluegrass

Thanks to Ry Cavanaugh (left), from New England and currently living in Culdaff, Co. Donegal, through June 2010, who writes:

I'm running an acoustic event called 'Shindig Thursdays at McGrory's'.

I'm also in a band called Session Americana which will be touring in Ireland 29 April-10 May, venues and dates forthcoming. We're pretty far out on the rock/pop edge, but with some bluegrass credibility in the lineup - the mandolin player is from The Resophonics and The Benders. He also wrote 'I want to be ready' from a Ronnie Arbo record. I was briefly in the Wayfaring Strangers with Tony Trischka, Matt Glaser, Andy Statman... and a tune on their first record. The Session is a rock band with elements of country, pop, r+b, jazz, and Texas swing - but we do sit around 'one mic', play acoustic instruments, and sing a lot!
