Rob Ickes in Scotland

This past weekend I was in Scotland at an exclusive workshop with Rob Ickes [above]. Rob is one of the top dobro players in the world and a 10-time IBMA dobro player of the year. Rob is over in Scotland with his band Blue Highway and they are performing in the big Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow. Thanks go to Dave Currie who organised the whole thing. Dave is the BBMA Scottish rep. and a friend of Rob.

There was just three of us - Dave, a chap Kevin, and myself. Rob came to the house early on Saturday morning and stayed the whole day. It was a marvellous day's music and a unique opportunity to watch and learn from a top professional musician. He sure can play the Dobro and I hope even a tiny bit of that will have got through to my ancient dobro brain.
