Hot times coming in Westport, Co. Mayo

As Westport is now covered with a beautiful blanket of snow,there is no better way to warm our hearts than with great bluegrass music. Next Saturday (16/1/2010) Geraghty's pub will once again open its door to a line of music shows which will stretch all the way till Westport Folk & Bluegrass Festival in June 2010.

The first gig will be of one of the most interesting groups working in the Dublin bluegrass scene at the moment: the Bluestack Mountain Boys will travel to the west, performing their unique take on bluegrass classics.

On Saturday 30/1/2010 a Galway band will take the short trip to Westport, bringing fresh sounds of folk and bluegrass: Mad Uncle Harry are sure to be great crowd-pleasers.

More shows are coming in the next coming months, but report on them will be in my next post.
