Buffalo in the Castle at the Cobblestone, 9 Dec. 2009

The Cobblestone, Smithfield, Dublin, announces:

Buffalo in the Castle is an exploration of music inspired by the traditions of Irish and American old-time music and song. The wellspring of energy bursting forth from this act is infectious. The musicians have a stunning array of experience with Desi Wilkinson, one of the leading exponents of the traditional Irish flute ('the timber flute') and a fine singer, to boot. Lena Ullman, a fine clawhammer-banjo player, is also a member of Moonshine. Mairtin O'Connor on accordion has recorded with Elvis Costello and the Dubliners. Frank Hall [also from Moonshine], an old-time fiddle player, began his trade playing at square dances in the States.

This gig puts together some of the best old-time and trad players in the country at the moment and will be sure to be a musical feast.

Wed. 9 December – Doors 8.30 p.m. - €15
