Peter O. Ruby with All Bells & Whistles for Ireland in 2010?

Darek Houška, Peter O. Ruby, Lucas Mayer, Pepa (Joe) Plecitý

Thanks to Petr Hruby (Peter O. Ruby) of the Czech Republic for the news that he and his band, All Bells & Whistles, are booked to perform at the Scottish Bluegrass Association's Guildtown Festival in late July 2010 and hope also to play on the big La Roche Bluegrass Festival in the French Alps a week later. To offset travel expenses, the band are looking for gigs in the intervening week and would be particularly glad to play in Ireland.

The Czech scene is the powerhouse of bluegrass in Europe, and the Bluegrass Association of the Czech Republic awarded one of Peter's earlier bands the title of 'Discovery of the Year'. His band has included such formidable musicians as Jirka Bok (banjo) and Jirka (George) Králík (fiddle), who played at the Omagh 2008 festival in Králík's Rowdy Rascals. Peter's aim from the start has been that the band should be at least as strong vocally as instrumentally; and with the recent addition of Pepa (Joe) Plecitý on bass, the band is now developing a quartet repertoire.

Anyone interested in putting on this powerful neo-traditionalist band in Ireland can contact Peter by e-mail.
