Hoedown Festival in Lynch's, Tullamore, 2-5 July

Thanks to Emmet Lynch, who reports that Hugh Lynch’s bar in Tullamore, Co. Offaly, is running a Hoedown Festival this weekend to celebrate 4 July (US Independence Day). The Hoedown consists of live music, special promotions, Cowboys 'n' Cowgirls, a Hot Dog stand, and a buckin' bronco. The programme for four days is:

Thurs. 2 July, night: Paul Skelton (piano)

Friday 3 July, night: Carvin Jones (American Hendrix-style guitarist with his band); DJ downstairs

Sat. 4 July, night: The Tennessee Hennessees (top-class bluegrass band) upstairs; DJ downstairs. Free in before 10.00 p.m.; €10 after that.

Sun. 5 July: Pig race in aid of Dochas Offaly Cancer Support: first race 3.30 p.m.

Update 3 July: The Tennessee Hennessees were on the bill at last week's Westport Folk & Bluegrass Festival; for more detail on their upcoming shows, see the new BIB post of 3 July.
