Béla Fleck in Downbeat

Banjoist Béla Fleck appears on the cover of the June 2009 issue of the jazz world's equivalent of Bluegrass Unlimited - Downbeat magazine, which describes him as 'one of the most adventurous players in improvised music'.

Inside is an article by Geoffrey Himes, 'Bela Fleck: thrown into deep water', which reviews his many current fields of activity, including his work with Abigail Washburn and the Sparrow Quartet, and his Africa Project, the latest results of which are the documentary film and CD Throw down your heart. The accompanying photos show him with what we believe is a Gold Tone CEB 5 5-string cello banjo. Downbeat is on sale at Tower Records in Wicklow Street, Dublin, and should be available from other good music outlets.
