Two weeks ago Uri Kohen, manager of Electric Cave Productions, announced the Second Westport Folk and Bluegrass Festival, to be held at Westport, Co. Mayo, on the last weekend of June (Friday 27 June-Sunday 29 June) 2008. Uri now reports that the lineup for this year's festival is close to completion:

Friday night will be dedicated all to folk music and inspired by the work of Guthrie, Seeger, and Dylan. The night will be headlined by Gavin Glass, one of Ireland's best folk newcomer performers.

Saturday will be all about bluegrass and will include musical lunch, workshop, free sessions, and at night the main stage with Woodbine (Athy), Colonel Bullshot Bluegrass Band (Westport), and the headliner will be FOUR WHEEL DRIVE (Netherlands/Germany/Belgium) with their ONLY concert in Ireland this year.

On Sunday we will finish with a few more pub sessions. More musicans will be named in the near future.

The main stage will be at a newly built function room in the Westport Inn Hotel and they will offer special rate packages for the weekend. Tickets will go on sale in early June. See you all in Westport!

For last year's festival, see the BIB post of 10 May 2007. If you are interested in assisting or otherwise being part of the festival, contact Uri by e-mail or by phone: 087 7570958.

4WD's new CD, Another town, will soon be available through CDBaby.
