Fair City Grass's new member

Enda (mandolin) and Bruno (guitar) at the Christmas Bash

Following on from Aran Sheehan's report on Fair City Grass's Christmas Bash, Enda Donnelly reports on the band's latest member:

Ah, the Bruno story! Well, he has no connection with bluegrass or playing. Has been to USA. He started coming to our gig some time ago & heard of it through going to some Irish trad sessions, which he enjoys. He is, by the way, from Brazil, of Italian extraction (partly). He was captivated by what we were up to & showed an interest in getting involved.

After coming back from a tour of USA (end Oct./Sept.), we found we would downsize to a trio. This was grand for a while, with myself on guitar mostly & changing our set to suit. I asked Bruno could he SING & play chords, & the rest is history. The nice thing about all this is he came with no preconceived notions or baggage (bluegrass). This made it all the more easier to coach him over the past month, & he lives nearby.

He is tall & good-looking, which even helps in the presentation of BLUEGRASS! He never played on a steel-stringed guitar before, although he has a Spanish nylon-stringed model. May I conclude, he has taken to bluegrass like a duck to water! & is great fun to work with.
