On the Crooked Road

The Crooked Road Heritage Music Trail passes through some of the most picturesque areas of south-western Virginia and links some of the most important places in the past and present of old-time and bluegrass music. One of them is Hiltons, VA, where the Carter Family Fold is home to the Carter Family Memorial Music Center, established in 1979 to honour the original Carter Family and to preserve their music.
Noreen and Brian McGrane of Booterstown take a leading role in honouring and preserving the Carters' music in the Dublin area. Noreen and Brian, who run the monthly session at the Old Punch Bowl in Booterstown, travelled the Crooked Road earlier this year, and have shared some of the photos from their trip.

I am so sad you didn't stay here with us! My sister and her family live north of Dublin.
We are the start of The Crooked Road: Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail right here in Rocky Mount VA.
For those who have never had southern biscuits and gravy at Dairy Queen while listening to toe tappin' bluegrass - you better get out here to these Blue Ridge Mountains!
Around here you can toss a rock in any direction and hit a musician!
Stay with us at The Claiborne House Bed and Breakfast.
