Events at the Séamus Ennis Centre, Naul, May 2008

The Séamus Ennis Cultural Centre, Naul, Co. Dublin, a good friend to bluegrass in the Dublin area, announces the following shows in the near future:

Fri. 16 May: Mark Geary. Doors open 7.30 p.m. Performance 8.30 p.m. Adm. €16

Sat. 17 May: The Paperboys. Doors open 7.30 p.m. Performance 8.30 p.m. Adm. €16

Sun. 18 May: 'The Piper in the Parlour', featuring Mick O'Brien. Time 3.00 p.m. onwards. Adm. free.

Thurs. 22 May: Anais Mitchell (singer/songwriter from Vermont, USA), highly recommended by the Centre. Doors open 7.30 p.m. Performance 8.30 p.m. Adm. €13

Fri. 23 May: Alec Finn, Kathleen Loughnane, & Cormac Cannon. Solo, duet, and trio performances of tunes from the harping repertoire and tradition in a style influenced by Galway and Clare music. Doors open 7.30 p.m. Performance 8.30 p.m. Adm. €16

Sat. 24 May: 'Married to the sea' (award-winning play written and directed by Shona McCarthy, set in the fishing community of the Old Claddagh in Galway city. 'Beautiful, lyrical, haunting, utterly compelling and often very funny' - Irish Times. 'A gem of a play... captivating throughout' - Sunday Tribune. Doors open 7.30 p.m. Performance 8.30 p.m. Adm. €20

Thurs. 29 May: FILM CLUB presents Heartworn highways (1975 documentary film directed by James Szalapski, on Texas singer/songwriters: Townes van Zandt, Guy Clark, David Allan Coe, Steve Earle, Charlie Daniels, John Hiatt. Doors open 7.30 p.m. Performance 8.30 p.m. Temporary (one day) Film Club membership: €6

Sat. 31 May: Stephen Fearing (Canadian singer/songwriter; eight solo recordings and five albums with Canadian supergroup Blackie & the Rodeo Kings. Doors open 7.30 p.m. Performance 8.30 p.m. Adm. €13
