Appalachian women's mountain songs on BBC

Thanks to FOAOTMAD for the news that 'Woman's hour' on BBC Radio 4 carried a feature nearly ten minutes long on Friday 19 October about Appalachian women's mountain songs, introduced by Rachel Hopkin, and mainly consisting of the voices of the singers themselves. Though the current fragility of the tradition is mentioned, the singing is a real tonic and can be heard on the station website here. Especially recommended for women singers, but good listening for anyone.
