Dr Ralph Stanley receives National Medal of the Arts

Thanks to Kitsy Kuykendall and Art Menius of the IBMA for the news that Dr Ralph Stanley was one of twenty recipients selected to receive the 2006 national medals of the arts and humanities - the USA's highest official awards in arts, arts scholarship, and philanthropy. President George W. Bush announced the selections yesterday for the awards, which were presented this morning in a private ceremony at the White House.
