The Wild Duck Flies Again?
Tony Curran reports:
Ten to fifteen years ago, the Wild Duck Inn in Portglenone, Co. Antrim, was regarded as one of the finest bluegrass venues in Northern Ireland, but the march of time, and musician indifference, led to its decline.
The opportunity has now arrived to re-establish the Wild Duck Inn in Northern Irish bluegrass, and I therefore call upon ALL bluegrass musicians and fans to gather there at 5 p.m. on 11 March 2006 - for a few hours - to provide a session that might lead to future engagements for both musicians and supporters.
To date, we have several musicians already committed to being there: Dessie Crerand, Brian Crawford, Ian McQuitty, Pete Lemon, Tony Curran, & Derek Norwood.
In addition, the resurgence of bluegrass (in Portglenone) is being advertised on local radio (BBC – various shows, Cool FM, City Beat, etc.) so a good turn-out is expected!
BE THERE, BE SQUARE
AND BE COOL!
