Charles Wolfe

Charles Wolfe, one of the leading scholars in the field of country music history, died on Thursday 9 February after some months of poor health. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon at Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

His many publications include The devil's box: masters of Southern fiddling, The life and legend of Leadbelly, Tennessee strings: the story of country music in Tennessee, Classic country: legends of country music, The Bristol sessions, Mahalia Jackson, Lefty Frizzell: his life, his music, and A good-natured riot: the birth of the Grand Ole Opry, all of which are currently available through Amazon.
