Bay Mountain Boys: further update
The iron mallet of work and other commitments has struck again, and Karl Deeter (vocals, lead guitar) has been obliged to withdraw from playing with the Bay Mountain Boys. The good news is that Karl expects to be able to get down to the Friday evening sessions at Rosie O'Grady's in Harold's Cross, Dublin.
The remaining BMB members (Paul McEvoy, lead vocals, guitar; Richard Hawkins, banjo) would like to meet musicians whose aim in life is to play in a tradition-oriented bluegrass band. Vacancies exist in bass and all lead instruments except banjo (unless you're Jim Mills or Joe Mullins, in which case the present banjo-player is prepared to switch to another instrument); and ability to sing different vocal parts is welcome. You can apply for BMB membership via this link. If you're familiar with bluegrass style and repertoire, have good timing, and would rather pick than eat, the BMB look forward to hearing from you.
Meanwhile, Dublin already has one regularly performing bluegrass band, Enda Donnelly's Fair City Grass, who have been playing alternate Wednesdays in Mother Reilly's, Uppercross House Hotel, Rathmines, for over five years now. See the calendar for these shows, and contact Enda for bookings and other info.
